What are anchors?Updated 2 years ago

"Anchors" are generally what you use to mount MoonShade to your vehicle, camper, or other structure. MoonAnchors are our name for the custom anchors we design or source specifically for use with MoonShade. MoonShade's corner carabiners then clip to the anchors for a secure mounting.

You have several options for anchoring MoonShade. Depending on your setup situation, you may use temporary anchors or fixed anchors.

Temporary Anchors

Temporary anchors are accessory parts that you can set up to serve as anchors and then remove when you are finished using MoonShade. Temporary anchors are reliable and strong, but best used in calm conditions. Examples of temporary anchors are Suction Cup Anchors and Magnet Anchors. We’ve designed MoonShade to be versatile, so there are many temporary anchor options that you can use to setup MoonShade in a variety of mounting locations.

Fixed Anchors

Fixed anchors offer the most secure mounting for MoonShade. Fixed anchors are either:

A) features already available on your vehicle or structure. For example, eyelets, roof rails, cross bars, or platforms on vehicles. This could also be the holes in a chain-link fence.

OR

B) MoonAnchors you add to your vehicle, camper, or structure and leave attached. Some fixed anchors are easily moved and removed, such as our Sprinter Rail Anchors and Awning Rail Anchors. Other fixed anchors are more permanently attached and require special attention for removal, such as our Adhesive Anchors and Pad Eye Anchors.

What if my vehicle or structure is narrower than the awning?

No problem! You will need to use the included strut pole to overcome this. Check out the Strut Poles Setup video below and the full Education Center article here: Mounting to narrow structures.
