MoonShade ships with four thin lines of cord that can be attached to the canopy&apos;s corner carabiners to create simple cord pulls. These cords allow you to open and close the carabiners in order to clip the carabiners to hard-to-reach anchor/mounting points without your feet leaving the ground. Sometimes and on some vehicles, you may just need a stepstool, ladder, tire, or cooler to stand on to get that extra reach to the anchors. How do I reach anchors placed high off the ground?

MoonShade's included strut pole allows you to mount the awning to narrow structures.

<p id="isPasted">Use included strut pole whenever you are mounting MoonShade to a structure that is narrower than MoonShade&apos;s short side, 7ft. The strut pole works well for mounting MoonShade to small vehicles, truck cabs, roof racks or rails, or attaching MoonShade to structures with a single mounting/anchor point, such as a tree or fence post.</p><p>If this applies to your setup situation, attach the strut pole to MoonShade&apos;s canopy by feeding the pole through the webbing loop along the center of one short side of the canopy. Then, insert the posts on each end of the strut pole into the grommets at the corners of the canopy. How do I attach MoonShade to structures narrower than the awning?

Use Small Suction Anchors to attach MoonShade's upright support poles to the side of your vehicle.

<p id="isPasted">Sometimes you may want or need your MoonShade&apos;s support poles to be off the ground. For example, when the ground is too hard to place ground stakes or if you want more living space under MoonShade. You can use MoonShade&apos;s included <a class="fr-strong" href="https://moonfab.com/products/suction-cup-anchors/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Small Suction Anchors</a> to attach the support poles to the side of your vehicle at an angle.</p><p><img src="https://uploads.gorgias.io/Oro0V7LB0W69d83N/AngledPoles_BFenimore-85e87cdf-77cb-4c7a-ba66-07e528e0e9f1.jpg" style="width: 300px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-fil fr-rounded" alt="MoonShade setup on converted Ram ProMaster with upright support legs mounted to side of van."></p><p><br></p><p>This setup option is available if the long (9ft) side of MoonShade is mounted to your vehicle. <p>MoonShade should be secured using the included guylines every time you set it up. However, sometimes the ground may be too hard to use the included ground stakes for anchoring the guylines. Whether you&apos;re using a standard MoonShade setup or <a class="fr-strong" href="https://moon.gorgias.help/en-US/support-poles-side-34181">mounting the support legs to the side of your vehicle</a>, watch our Hard Ground Setup video and see the options below for securing MoonShade when setup on hard ground.</p><p><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-rv fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="100%" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/W4xX5efR_TM?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br></p><p><strong>Securing Guylines without Stakes</strong></p><p>First, attach the tail end (without the tensioner) of one guyline to each of the two front corners of MoonShade with upright support poles. You can use a basic knot to tie the guyline to MoonShade&apos;s corner loops or you can tie a loop at the end and place it over the support pole grommet post. Tie the end with the tensioner to your vehicle rims or to undercarriage features on the vehicle.&#xA0;</p><p><strong>Option 2:</strong> Tie or clip the end of the guyline to heavy objects or other sturdy structures such as 5 gallon water jugs (sold separately), trees, rocks, or other stationary objects.</p><p><strong>Tips:</strong></p><ul><li>To make tying the guyline to your vehicle easier, remove the tensioner from the guyline and save it in your accessory bag.</li><li>Add a carabiner (sold separately) to a knotted loop at the end of your guyline for easy attachment to vehicle frames, sandbags, jugs, or other objects with handles or straps.</li></ul>
